Thanks, soldiers
It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who gives us freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. Too many of us stood by and let the 'stoopid suckers' (800's favorite epithet) revile our fighting forces in VietNam. As far as I am concerned, once the President of our nation, no matter which party, declares a war and commits our men and women to the battle, non-support is an act of treason, not to mention just plain crude and tacky. It won't happen again in my presence without comment. Words can't express the gratitude I feel for the soldiers of my own family and the nation, past, present and probably future.
