Oh-oh

The plant is closing. 70% will be let go in June, the remaining ones will stay until April 2004. That is probably when the plant in Manitoba will be up to speed making the products we make. That is the present plan. This may be only a repeat of 97. In any case, I shall stay til they escort me out the door.

Lots of shock, anger and tears but that is always the case in an owner-worker relation. The thing to remember is that to own something gives one the choice to keep on owning it, or running it or making whatever changes are available. That is part of the benefit package of the risk-taker. We have jobs because of the risk-taker.

In my perfect world, I would work 2 more years, even part time, and be vested retirement-wise, whatever that involves. I think it means I would be eligible for retirement benefits. I would just barely be able to meet those requirements in July of 2004. Then I would draw unemployment for as long as I could and then go directly into SS. The car would be paid for by then, but will be even if I have no job after this summer. I have a pretty good chance seniority and grade wise to stay on for 2 more years but that is what I thought last time!

The constant realization that You are the keeper of my life and the director of my future provides the rock I stand on. I really don't fear what may happen job-wise. I have learned that You know what is best for me, and all I have to do is follow. Even when it is a very dark, sad path as when 1s died, You know the thoughts You have towards me, to bring me to an expected end. How can I do anything else but trust You when You have proved Yourself over and over again to be the trustable One.
