Resurrection thoughts

Yesterday was Good Friday. I am not really sure what Good Friday and the name signifies. Neither was d evidently, as he asked 1d and was instructed to look it up and write her a report for being smart-mouthed. I don't think he did and I haven't either.

The Passover I know, the last supper I know. Those are both in the Bible. Good Friday I am a little foggy on. I am sure it has some thing to do with the crucifixion of Jesus. Commemorating the event and labeling it Good because it really was, for us. Mostly in my life with You, I have focused on the resurrection of Your Son. I guess that is because lots of folks (all of them in fact) have died for sin. Jesus did, too. Just not His. Some have even died for other people. Even as Adam died, all die because all have sinned.

The sin in the garden had a consequence. Separation from God. That is what death is. Either a spiritual death or a physical death. As Adam became separated from God as a result of sin and death passed upon him, so all of us who are descended from him die also.

Death is not the thing I marvel about at this time of year. Resurrection is. This One who died for sin even though it was not His, came back to life. You raised Him from the dead. In effect, telling us that the sacrifice was accepted. Always before,Satan had a perfect right judicially to levy death upon humans. They deserved it. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But this One------.

No wonder all the forces of Hell tried to tempt Him. One died who had never sinned and could not sin. God Himself in the person of the Son died for me and all of mankind. And not only that, the really magnificent thing. God the Father accepted that death as payment for my sin and the sins of all mankind, and raised the Son to life as living testament to 'paid in full'.

To refuse that free gift, and refuse to accept Jesus as one's Saviour has got to be the most insane thing a person can do. And yet I did, for many years. And so do countless others, only to go off into eternal death, eternal separation from You.
